Cardiac Motion Analysis from Ultrasound Sequences Using Non-rigid Registration

چکیده
In this article we propose a cardiac motion estimation technique that uses non-rigid registration to compute the dense cardiac displacement eld from 2D ultrasound sequences. Our method employs a semi-local deformation model which provides controlled smoothness. We apply a multiresolution optimization strategy for better speed and robustness. To further improve the accuracy, the sequence is registered in both forward and backward directions. We calculate additional parameters from the displacement eld, such as total displacement and strain. We create an arti cial ultrasound sequence of one heart cycle using a motion model and use it to validate the accuracy of the algorithm. Finally, we present results on real data from normal and pathological subjects that show the clinical applicability of our method.

Estimation of Cardiac Motion Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Abstract. This paper presents the application of the methods proposed in [1] to estimate displacements fields from two dimensional ultrasound sequences of the heart using spatiotemporal non-rigid registration. The main topic of our work is the application of these techniques to MR sequences, and validation of the obtained cardiac parameters: displacement, velocity and strain fields. The methods...
متن کاملCompensation of brain shift during surgery using non-rigid registration of MR and ultrasound images
Background: Surgery and accurate removal of the brain tumor in the operating room and after opening the scalp is one of the major challenges for neurosurgeons due to the removal of skull pressure and displacement and deformation of the brain tissue. This displacement of the brain changes the location of the tumor relative to the MR image taken preoperatively. Methods: This study, which is done...

Automated motion tracking of the myocardium from 3D echocardiography provides insight into heart’s architecture and function. We present a method for 3D cardiac motion tracking using nonrigid image registration. Our contribution is two-fold. We introduce a new similarity measure derived from a maximum likelihood perspective taking into account physical properties of ultrasound image acquisition...
متن کاملCardiac motion analysis from ultrasound sequences using nonrigid registration: validation against Doppler tissue velocity.
Early detection of cardiac motion abnormalities is one of the main goals of quantitative cardiac image processing. This article presents a new method to compute the 2-D myocardial motion parameters from gray-scale 2-D echocardiographic sequences, making special emphasis on the validation of the proposed technique in comparison with Doppler tissue imaging. Myocardial motion is computed using a f...
متن کاملComparison of Cardiac Motion Across Subjects Using Non-rigid Registration
We present a novel technique that enables a direct quantitative comparison of cardiac motion derived from 4D MR image sequences to be made either within or across patients. This is achieved by registering the images that describe the anatomy of both subjects and then using the computed transformation to map the motion fields of each subject into the same coordinate system. The motion fields are...
